A Bit of a Scare

Something scary just happened to me! Let me explain: Mommy was making breakfast and I was playing with my little cars in the living room. All of a sudden, I don't know what I did, I slipped and hit the corner of the radiator. I screamed. Mommy came and I saw little red drops falling on the floor: I had cut my forehead open, and it was bleeding really badly. Mommy took me in her arms, settled me on the sofa and went to get a compress. At the same time, I could hear her calling the doctor. My little brother looked at me and asked me if I was in pain. I said yes, I was in a lot of pain! Then Mommy said: “My Treasures, we have to go to the doctor”.

Ten minutes later, we were at his office. "Hello Ptit Bunny. Come and lie down here, we're going to look at the wound and fix it”. I heard that he said to Mommy, “He is going to need some stitches”. I saw from the corner of my eye that Mommy was squatting. I knew it was because she is very sensitive. One day she had a blood test and when she got up she had to sit down right away because she almost fainted. I saw my little brother coming to sit down next to her. She was holding my hand and she said, "Ptit Bunny, the shot is going to hurt a little, but afterwards, you won't feel anything. Squeeze my hand as hard as you need to”.

The doctor cleaned my forehead with something that didn't smell very good, and then I felt it stinging and I couldn't help but say "Ouch! Ouch!”. I could feel the tears coming to my eyes, and I was squeezing Mommy’s hand with all my strength. Mommy said, "Remember the story of the Smurfs with the magic potion we read yesterday? Let's make up our own". And Mommy started telling me a new story. Our doctor must have enjoyed hearing the story while he was fixing my wound! Then he said, "Here you go, Ptit Bunny, I sewed up the wound, and I put a bandage on it. In a few days, you'll have to come back for me to remove the stitches”. Our doctor is really nice. When we have a fever or a stomach ache, he is always there to reassure Mommy.

On the way home, Mommy stopped at the bakery to buy croissants. And she said, "Ptit Bunny, congratulations, you were very brave. And you, Lapinou, congratulations too; you were patient and very good. Let's hurry home and have a good breakfast, I love you my Treasures".
